A fisherman's life
In the morning, the beach is bustling with life. The fishermen come back with the (usually meager - blame the industrial fishing ships!) results of a
night's work. Once it's sold off for a pittance, work carries on as the nets and boats need tending to.
Sunrise walks on the beach
During our stay in Mamallapuram, brisk morning walks on the beach became a most pleasant routine. Watching the sun rise. Observing the fishermen
come back after a night out at sea and busily make the most of these fresh hours. Taking in the fresh salty sea air.
A damn fine way to start the day.
Street scenes, Thirukazhukundram
Indian streets - an assault on the five senses.
But maybe I should let the pictures speak. There is no easy way of describing Indian streets.

Bananas. Lots of them.
We took a stroll around town, looking for something to eat. I'll let you guess what we ended up having.

This family
My first sighting of a Rajput turban on a Keith Richards look-alike... I could hardly contain my excitement and stalked him half the way down the hill. He couldn't suppress a smile.
Or maybe it really was Keith Richards.
800 (or so) steps
800 (or so) steps to the top. Countless opportunities for people watching. Because, really, that's what one goes to India for.

Day trip to the Eagles' Temple
An old temple perched on top of a hill, towering over a small town with an unpronounceable name, surrounded by the green, luscious Tamil Nadu
countryside.
And once you step inside, you know you're in another world.

People watching at the Butterball
Basking in the hot sun, sipping a fresh coconut, simply watching. A lovely way to spend an afternoon... at least until you just can't pose for any more pictures!
